The Miami Marlins No. 26 prospect, right-hander George Soriano enjoyed a strong 2021 season that saw the 22-year-old reach High-A for the first time in his young career. Looking ahead to 2022 as well, the former 2015 international signing by Miami out of the Dominican Republic will likely see Double-A where he should be a key part of the Blue Wahoos rotation.
Miami Marlins 2021 Season Review: RHP George Soriano
After not pitching in 2020, Soriano would begin the 2021 season with Low-A Jupiter in mid-May, but would struggle to begin the year allowing a combined eight earned runs across his first two starts. Pitching only six innings during that span, the right-hander would however bounce-back across the next month to finish his time with the Hammerheads posting a combined 2.91 ERA across seven starts with Low-A Jupiter.
After positing one run or less in five of his seven starts in Low-A, Soriano would be called-up to High-A Beloit in early-July where he would remain for the conclusion of the 2021 season. The right-hander would see similar success across his first seven starts with the Snappers, but would struggle across his last four outings to finish his time in High-A with a 3.74 ERA across 11 starts.
For the 2021 season overall, Soriano made a combined 18 starts between Low-A Jupiter and High-A Beloit where the right-hander posted a combined 7-1 record with a 3.43 ERA across 89.1 innings pitched. Posting a 1.354 WHIP, Soriano walked a total of 37 batters during the 2021 season, but did strike out a combined 114, resulting in an impressive 11.5 K/9.

Rising into the Miami Marlins Top 30 prospects as a result of the recent trades made by the club in late-November, the 22-year-old is quickly becoming a player to watch in Miami’s system. Looking ahead to the 2022 season as well, Soriano will likely begin the year in Double-A Pensacola, or with High-A Beloit once again.
