Who are the best players by position in Miami Marlins history? Have you ever wondered about that? I wrote about the best starting pitching seasons. This time I’m writing about all of the best seasons and players. Are you ready to find out who are the best players by position?!

The Miami Marlins have some surprising historical WAR leaders.

The catcher with the most career WAR is J.T. Realmuto with 13.9 Realmuto played for the Miami Marlins from 2014-2018, The best catching season was produced by Realmuto as well, in 2018, when he produced 4.5 WAR. The first baseman with the most career WAR is Jeff Conine with 13.7. He played for The Fish from 1993-1997. The all-time best season by a first baseman was Conine in 1996 with 3.5 WAR.

The second baseman with the most career WAR is Luis Castillo with 22.4 WAR. Castillo played for the Miami Marlins from 1996-2005. In 2000 he has the highest WAR of any Miami Marlins second baseman with 4.5 WAR.

The shortstop with the highest career WAR for the Miami Marlins is Hanley Ramirez (who else) with 26.9 WAR. He played for us from 2006-2012. The single best season for a shortstop in Miami Marlins history belongs to him as well with 7.3 WAR in 2009.

What third baseman has the highest career WAR for the Miami Marlins? The answer to this trivia question is Miguel Cabrera with 18.3 WAR. The third baseman who had the highest single season WAR is Miggy in 2006 with 5.8 WAR. He played for us from 2003-2007.

The leftfielder with the highest career WAR for the Miami Marlins is  Christian Yelich with 17.5 WAR. He played for us from 2013-2017. The highest single season WAR for a leftfielder however belongs to Cliff Floyd, who played for us from 1997-2001. Floyd produced 6.6 WAR in 2001.

The centerfielder with the highest all-time WAR for the Miami Marlins is Marcell Ozuna with 13.8 WAR. Can you believe he was a centerfielder once?! He played for us from 2013-2017. The highest single season WAR for a centerfielder belongs to Ozuna in 2017 with 5.6 WAR.

The rightfielder with the highest career WAR for the Miami Marlins is the man who played for us from 2010-2017… Giancarlo Stanton with 35.7 WAR. He also set a season WAR record for Miami Marlins rightfielders with 7.9 WAR in 2017. The DH hasn’t been around long enough to include (the 2020 shortened season and the yet unfinished 2022).

The starting pitcher with the highest career WAR for the Miami Marlins is Josh Johnson with 25.8 WAR. He pitched for us from 2005-2011. The single season WAR record was set by Kevin Brown in 1996 with 7.9 WAR. Brown pitched for us in 1996-1997. AJ Ramos set the career WAR record for closers with 6.6 from 2012-2017. Bryan Harvey set the single season WAR record in 1993 with 4.0 and pitched with us until 1995.
