The Miami Marlins arrived on the scene in 1993 as the Florida Marlins. We then became the fastest expansion team to win the World Series. We did that in 1997. We did the same thing even more impressively in 2003. Other than 2020, we haven’t even made the playoffs in other seasons. Despite this, winning two World Series in 29 years is a very impressive accomplishment. Let’s take a look at how other teams did during that same time period.

Since our arrival in 1993, the Miami Marlins have been better than most of the Major League teams.

I think that it’s safe to say that winning the World Series is the ultimate goal, with winning the pennant right after that. How did other teams do since the Miami Marlins arrived in 1993. I used playoff appearances and then division wins as tie breakers. Let’s take a look…

1. New York Yankees – 5 championships, 7 pennants.

2. Boston Red Sox – 4 championships, 4 pennants.

3. San Francisco Giants – 3 championships, 4 pennants.

4. Atlanta Braves – 2 championships, 4 pennants.

5. St. Louis Cardinals – 2 championships, 4 pennants.

6. Toronto Blue Jays – 2 championships, 2 pennants.

7. Miami Marlins – 2 championships, 2 pennants.

8. Houston Astros – 1 championship, 4 pennants.

9. Los Angeles Dodgers – 1 championship, 3 pennants.

10. Philadelphia Phillies – 1 championship, 3 pennants.

11. Kansas City Royals – 1 championship, 2 pennants.

12. Los Angeles Angels – 1 championship, 1 pennant.

13. Chicago Cubs – 1 championship, 1 pennant.

14. Arizona Diamondbacks – 1 championship, 1 pennant.

15. Chicago White Sox – 1 championship, 1 pennant.

16. Washington Nationals – 1 championship, 1 pennant.

17. Cleveland Guardians – 0 championships, 2 pennants.

18. Tampa Bay Rays – 0 championships, 2 pennants.

19. Texas Rangers – 0 championships, 2 pennants.

20. Detroit Tigers – 0 championships, 2 pennants.

21. New York Mets – 0 championships, 2 pennants.

22. San Diego Padres – 0 championships, 1 pennant.

23. Colorado Rockies – 0 championships, 1 pennant.

24. Oakland Athletics – 0 championships, 0 pennants.

25. Minnesota Twins – 0 championships, 0 pennants.

26. Milwaukee Brewers – 0 championships, 0 pennants.

27. Cincinnati Reds – 0 championships, 0 pennants.

28. Baltimore Orioles – 0 championships, 0 pennants.

29. Seattle Mariners – 0 championships, 0 pennants.

30. Pittsburgh Pirates – 0 championships, 0 pennants.

The Miami Marlins have been more successful than 23 other teams. 23 out of 30 teams! That’s an impressive number and one to really understand. The Miami Marlins have been in the top 10 of the most successful teams since our first season in 1993. A bizarre takeaway here is that the Chicago Cubs are number 13, which is odd considering they were once believed to be cursed. We are also the fourth most successful teams among just National League teams. That means that we have been better than 11 other teams in a 15 team league. The crown on our logo is well-deserved.

Next. This off-season will determine Bruce Sherman’s ownership. dark
