Another Miami Marlins managerial candidate
The Miami Marlins are looking for a new manager. We already have a leading candidate and his name is Joe Espada. We’re still interviewing candidates however and there seems to be another one… Skip Schumaker. Could Skip Schumaker be the next Miami Marlins manager? Let’s take a look at his candidacy and if he might be the best choice after all…
Skip Schumaker could be the next Miami Marlins manager.
Skip Schumaker is a Major League veteran and has experience playing on contending teams. This type of experience is vital to knowing how to manage winning teams in my opinion. He was also a part of the St. Louis Cardinals World Series winning team in 2011.
This isn’t the first time that Schumaker interviewed for a managerial job. He interviewed for the New York Mets in 2019 and the Boston Red Sox in 2020. He didn’t get either job and is currently the bench coach for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Skip Schumaker lives in Southern California and was a bench coach for the San Diego Padres in 2018. He eventually worked as their associate manager, which is the equivalent of their bench coach position. He later took a bench coach position with St. Louis.
Before becoming a bench coach with St. Louis, Schumaker was a candidate for their managerial job. It seems as if he is respected around the game and will eventually receive an opportunity to be a manager somewhere. The Miami Marlins managerial job can be very lucrative if he can turn The Fish around.
Is Skip Schumaker a better choice for our manager than Joe Espada? That’s a good question and the answer is “who really knows?” At the end of the day neither has any experience as a Major League manager and for all we know neither will do well at the position. On the other hand, every great manager starts somewhere and any of these candidates can turn out to be one.
Will the Miami Marlins go with Joe Espada or Skip Schumaker? I don’t know and other teams are in the picture as well. We should know what happens soon enough of course.
