The Miami Marlins are busy rebuilding our front office and interviewing candidates for the Manager position.  The Assistant General Manager is an important position too, and we recently interviewed someone for the position as well:

Who is Oz Ocampo? Will he be helpful at the position of hired? Ocampo’ stole will essentially be to assist Kim Ng, our current General Manager, not currently known for making the best moves. An interesting note is that he’s another Houston Astros executive that we have interest in. So who is Oz?

Oz Ocampo has been interviewed for the position of Miami Marlins Assistant General Manager.

The Miami Marlins are going through a major turnover in the front office and now even the assistant position is in play. Kim Ng definitely needs someone else to help her, based on how many bad moves and non-moves that she’s currently responsible for. It’s interesting to note that she already has two Assistant GM’s helping her: Daniel Greenlee and Brian Chattin. Greenlee has been around since 2027 and Chattin for about a decade.

Oz Ocampo started his Major League career as a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was specifically tasked with working in the Dominican Republic. Following Kim Ng’s example, he then worked for MLB itself in the International Baseball Operations department.

Oz Ocampo followed up the former assignment by joining the Houston Astros to help with their international scouting and player development. I’m unsure how that wouldn’t make him a better candidate to help with our scouting department, but it’s possible that he just doesn’t want to do that particular part of the job anymore.

Oz Ocampo joined the Pittsburgh Pirates as a special assistant before finally returning to Houston prior to this season. He was a part of their 2017 cheat.. World Championship team and is a part of their current AL pennant winning organization. Will he bring his winning ways to Miami? Maybe. As long as it doesn’t include knocking on trash cans, he might help Kim with decisions based on his experience in the analytical and scouting areas of the game. He’s the only currently known AGM candidate.

Next. Is this star SS in our budget?. dark
