Former Marlins star is showing off his infamous attitude
Former Miami Marlins second baseman/CF Jazz Chisholm Jr. has a complicated history with the team. At the end of the day, when Peter Bendix made the trade with the New York Yankees at the Trade Deadline, the trade made a lot of sense. As good as Jazz promised to be, his attitude and failure to stay healthy were major warning signs as far as extending him long-term. He's back in the news.
Former Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr. is back in the news
It seems that most Miami Marlins fans have accepted that the trade that sent Jazz Chisholm Jr. to the New York Yankees ultimately made sense. Jazz played for the The Fish from 2020 to the Trade Deadline in 2024. He never played a full season with the team due to constant injuries. His highest total was the 124 games in 2021. He has a new career high this season with 147. He played 101 of those games with The Fish and 46 with the New York Yankees.
Throughout his time with the Marlins, Jazz showed a lot of potential but he never quite put it all together. He had power, but strikeout issues, he had low batting averages but tremendous speed. He was willing to switch positions to accommodate teams that he played for. He started his Marlins career at second base, but moved to CF when needed and then to third base with the New York Yankees, when needed to upon his trade.
Overall for his career, Jazz Chisholm Jr. has batted .249/.311/.446. That's not impressive obviously, but again the story with him was always the high potential. Jazz however can't seem to stay out of the news with his comments. This time, he made a potentially overconfident comment about the Kansas City Royals.
The New York Yankees are playing Kansas City in the American League Division Series, and after winning Game 1, lost Game 2. Jazz said this:
"It still feels the same, that we're going to win (the series). I don't feel like anybody feels any different. We're going to go out there and do our thing still. We still don't feel like any team is better than us. We had a lot of missed opportunities tonight so they just got lucky."
It's a very overconfident statement and not one that puts Jazz Chisholm Jr. in a good light to be quite honest. The Miami Marlins may be better off having moved on.
