We're all hoping that a sad rumor is not actually going to turn into reality. Some of the proposed trades are plain ridiculous in fact. Sandy Alcantara is the face of the Miami Marlins and should be on the team for as long as possible. He just made his return to the team in Spring Training and it was memorable.

Sandy Alcantara is pitching again for the Miami Marlins.

One of the most anticipated storylines for this season has been the return of Sandy Alcantara to the Miami Marlins. Putting all of the annoying trade rumors aside, his return has been very exciting to follow. He just pitched for the team in Spring Training on Sunday and was perfect in one inning. It was just one inning, but he was sharp and seemed to be back to his old self.

Sandy had this to say:

"I say ‘Thanks God’ for giving me the opportunity to be out there and compete and be healthy. It feels great after a long time without competing. So everything feels great today. Little nervous, but after that first pitch, I forget about everything.”

Sandy hit 97.8 mph with his fastball and threw 13 strikes and only 4 balls in that inning. Even the ace himself couldn't believe how much better than expected he was. He said this:

"I know that the hard work that I was doing in the offseason, during my rehab, today, my arm feels so good, and I'm just trying to let it go. “I was good throwing where I want to throw it, just missed a couple times, trying to be too perfect. But after that, just trying to throw in the middle and let those guys swing.”

The opposing team for the Miami Marlins on Sunday, the New York Mets were impressed by Sandy as well. It certainly looks like a big year from Sandy Alcantara could be on the way in 2025. When we last saw the former Cy Young winner, he pitched to a 4.14 ERA/4.03 FIP, with 7.4 K/9 and 2.3 BB/9 in 28 games and 184.2 innings pitched. The season earlier, he pitched to a 2.28 ERA/2.99 FIP, with 8.1 K/9 and 2.0 BB/9 in 32 games and 228.2 innings pitched.
