The Miami Marlins were pretty quiet all off-season so far. There were rumors about potential trades, but nothing actually got done. Well...the wait is finally over. The Fish have finally signed a player and it's none other then Eric Wagaman! Who you ask? Well, the player whose spot has been opened up by designating IF Vidal Brujan for assignment. It's time to take a look at this....

The Miami Marlins finally added a player in free agency.

The wait is over and the worries have been lifted! Eric Wagaman is coming to the Miami Marlins! I'm sorry, I don't have anything against Eric, and I certainly am happy that he gets to have a shot with the team. That said, it's frustrating to see the team continue to fail to add impact players. This is definitely not the signing that we expected, though to be fair it does have potential.

Eric Wagaman debuted in the Major Leagues as a 26 year old with the Los Angeles Angels last season. He batted .250/.270/.403, with 2 home runs and 10 RBI in 18 games and 72 AB. He had an impressive 91.7 Exit Velocity and can play both third base and left field.

What can I say about him? He's clearly a late bloomer at best. He has a nice Exit Velocity and wasn't terrible in his short time with the Angels. He is already 27 years old however and has no real track record at the Major League level. It's unclear what his future holds, but it certainly looks like that Peter Bendix is willing to give him a legitimate tryout with the team. We'll see what happens in Spring Training at this point I guess.

What about Vidal Brujan? Brujan batted just .222/.303/.319, with 2 home runs and 16 RBI in 102 games and 248 AB in the 2024 season. He was worth 0.5 WAR and will be 27 himself before next season starts. He's definitely not someone that the Miami Marlins are really going to miss. It will be interesting to see how Eric Wagaman does in 2025.
