Miami Marlins have a historic start to the season

What a beginning of the season for the Miami Marlins! We knew that it would be historic, but not like this! The pitching staff has been shaken up and the team has won three out of four games, winning the opening series against the Pittsburgh Pirates! This was more than we could've hoped for! I would have to keep my expectations low, but this is as good of a beginning as we could've possibly imagined!

The Miami Marlins had a historic start to the season!

So what was historic about the start to the season exactly? The Miami Marlins became the first team with three walk-off wins in their first series of the season since the 1901 Detroit Tigers! This is some stunning piece of trivia and certainly a positive way to kick off the season! It was fun to see Max Meyer pitch a gem on Sunday to close the series. It was also fun to see Griffin Conine launch a tying home run on is dad's Marlins Hall of Fame induction.

Manager Clayton McCullough was impressed with the team saying:

"It speaks to their tenacity and just their will to hang in there and trust that process of putting a plan together each at-bat. You just hang in there.
I think a lot of today was set up from the previous few days, like our ability to grind through and have a lot of real high quality at-bats, especially in a four-game series, where now you're seeing some relievers for the third time in a four-game series. Not only the extra look at them, but also the tax they potentially have to pay and those things. Starters, relievers, grinding through at-bats and just trying to create traffic and innings"

The Miami Marlins sadly will probably not go to the playoffs this season or win a 100 games, but it's amazing to see how hard-working these players are. How they grinded from at-bat to at-bat, from play to play to put on a show and to get the much-needed wins. If this team somehow manages to finish above .500 it would be great. If this team can somehow get into playoff contention it would be even better. It's just an opening series but let's give these guys their due. They want to win.
