Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp Center Fielder Jake Mangum

Center fielder Jake Mangum has been hot and his production seemed to be a good match for the Miami Marlins current needs in center field. Kim Ng decided not to call up Mangum but rather trade one of their younger prospects for a journeyman outfielder. It is unclear as to why Kim Ng decided that as Mangum to date is hitting .291 with two home runs, 23 RBI, and seven stolen bases.

Mangum will have a tough road to the roster if current outfielders on the Miami Marlins roster keep performing. Jorge Soler, Bryan De La Cruz, Jesus Sanchez, and the currently injured Jazz Chisholm, Jr. have all been playing very well and all have had recent hot streaks. Mangum will have to show that he is better than Garrett Hampson who is hitting .239 with one home run, nine RBI, and one stolen base and is the one remaining outfielder on the roster who will possibly remain once Jazz returns.
