OF Griffin Conine, AA

Griffin Conine was originally drafted out of high school by the Miami Marlins in the 31st round in 2015, but he chose to go on to play at Duke and then was drafted again, this time in the 2nd round by the Toronto Blue Jays. Conine was added to the Marlins farm in 2020 as a part of a trade for Jonathan Villar.

Conine is currently second on the AA Blue Wahoos in home runs with 13 and in RBI with 47 while slashing .256/.372/.484. Conine obviously would be a fan favorite if he makes his way up to the bigs, for obvious reasons, but his path to AAA has probably been stopped up by his strikeout rate. Over his 270 plate appearances this year he has 96 strikeouts, which is a pretty high rate. If he can get that down I think he is due for a promotion, as the outfield in AAA is depleted. Additionally, his rate is very close to that of Peyton Burdick
