Marlins New Look lineup after signing Tim Anderson
Tim Anderson will help the lineup be more versatile
The Miami Marlins finally made a big league signing just one and a half days before their first Spring Training game. The Marlins added All-Star Tim Anderson as their starting short stop and now the Marlins lineup is almost complete. The best part about the Anderson signing is that the Marlins now have several options for their lineup that could be put in place.
The Marlins added All-Star Tim Anderson to their lineup
Tim Anderson is a wild card signing but is little risk to the Marlins as he is on a 1 year $5 million contract. If Anderson gets back or close to 2021 All-Star numbers, he is almost a lock for either the 2 hole or the 5/6 holes. If he struggles he will likely be down in the 8 hole. Let’s take a look however at the lineup with him.
Arraez 2B
Gordon LF
Chisholm CF
Bell 1B
Burger 3B
DLC RF
Anderson SS
Sanchez/Garcia/Johnston DH
Bethancourt C
That’s a solid lineup and if your DH is at 8, that would say something. If Johnston makes the team and explodes offensively he could push up higher in the order. The same is true if Sanchez has a really good year and pushes his way higher. Another option for the Marlins lineup would be this:
Arraez 2B
DLC LF
Chisholm CF
Bell 1B
Burger 3B
Anderson SS
Sanchez RF
Garcia DH
Fortes C
You could swap out Gordon at DH or Johnston if he makes the team. Or if Dane Myers makes the team you could swap Chisholm with him and let Jazz hit DH or Gordon could play Centerfield. Lots of versatility to the lineup which will help Skip game plan against lefties and righties better. Anderson is a career .325 hitter versus lefties so that could bump him up higher in the lineup when facing a southpaw. We will see how Skip will utilize his newest addition as well as Gordon who is new to the team.
