Marlins vs Nationals prediction and odds for Friday, Sept. 1 (Back Perez in rematch)
The Miami Marlins have dominated the Nationals this year, but at 67-67 still trail the final Wild Card spot by 3.0 games.
By Josh Yourish

Last night, the Miami Marlins expanded their advantage in the season series over the Washington Nationals with a 6-1 win. Miami is now up 8-2 for the season and 1-0 in this four-game weekend set.
Tonight for Game 2 of the series, Eury Perez will go for Miami in DC against Jake Irvin. Perez is 5-4 with a 2.68 ERA in 15 starts while Irvin is 3-5 in 20 starts with a 4.30.
Last night’s win got the Marlins back to .500 at 67-67 and dropped Washignton to 62-73. The Marlins are favored again tonight and we’ll get into the odds and my pick below, but if you want to bet this game, do it with this promo from the FanDuel Sportsbook.

Marlins vs. Nationals odds, run line and total
Marlins vs. Nationals prediction and pick
The season that Eury Perez is putting together is just so impressive. At just 20-years-old he’s looking like the anchor of Miami’s rotation and in the month of August he made four starts and allowed just eight earned runs with 29 strikeouts in 20.2 innings.
He has a 90th percentile strikeout rate of 30.4% and a 93rd percentile whiff rate of 34.5%. He’s pretty untouchable and his last start Washington managed just three hits and one unearned run against him.
Over the National’s last five games they have only scored 10 total runs. In the month of August they finished with the 15th most runs scored, but over the last 15 days they are 20th in runs scored and the Marlins are 30th. Washington’s offense has taken a serious hit with Stone Garrett’s injury and Miami just isn’t getting much of anything out of their lineup. Jorge Soler is still listed as day-to-day for the Marlins.
Jake Irvin’s last start was against Miami and he only gave up one run over six innings. As long as the bullpens don’t blow it I like the under in this matchup. I’m fading both lineups tonight.
