Miami Marlins: 3 Players fans are fed up with
We are almost two full months into the season and Miami Marlins fans are cheering on one of the best teams in Miami in awhile. There are however some players who need to step it up or maybe even move on from the Marlins and fans are already talking. Ahead we will detail three most talked about players that frustrate Marlins fans in 2023.
Now Wendle might get a little bigger break from fans as he has only been back a few weeks but between May 7th and 22nd he is hitting .177 with 0 home runs and 3 RBI while striking out 9 times in 34 at-bats. Wendle might end up splitting time at short if his lack of production continues, especially with his .462 OPS which is almost 300 points below his career average.
Stallings brings the veteran catching presence needed to help the young staff out but has limited offensive potential. Even with his limits, he is performing well below his career averages this season with a slash line of .118/.178/.162 with 3 RBI and 3 total extra base hits in 68 at-bats. There are several minor leaguers that could perform better and so that might be the direction the Marlins go in the future. Despite last nights two RBI performance, it's a drop in the bucket of a season full of disappointment so far.
This goes without saying, but Sandy has not been the reigning Cy Young winner this season, not even close. At this point he should have a few shutouts and be peaking but with his only shutout coming on April 4th and all other starts giving up at least 2 runs, questions abound. In reality the old Sandy would have handled the Giants and Reds and made up for poor performances early in the season and yet he lost both of those games giving up 10 runs between them. The same should be true for his upcoming start in Denver, fans will be waiting for another masterful performance, but can he deliver?
