Less than a week ago, the Miami Marlins put Minor League 3B Jordan Groshans on waivers. He's now gone, being claimed by the New York Yankees today. Of course the big story today is DH Jorge Soler moving on to the San Francisco Giants. The news abo about Groshans obviously pales in comparison to the news about Soler. Still, will The Fish miss Jordan Groshans at all?

Jordan Groshans is moving on from the Miami Marlins to the New York Yankees.

Jordan Groshans is a former first round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays (#12 in 2018). This set pretty high expectations for him from the beginning. Groshans was really impressive in the Minor Leagues. He batted .296/.353/.446, with 5 home runs and 43 RBI in 48 games and 186 AB in Rookie ball in 2018. He was promoted to A ball in 2019, and batted .337/.427/.482, with 2 home runs and 13 RBI in 23 games and 82 AB.

Moving on to AA in 2021, Groshans batted .291/.367/.450, with 7 home runs and 40 RBI in 75 games and 278 AB. By this point, it certainly looked like Jordan Groshans was going to contribute quite a bit to the Major League team upon his eventual promotion there. He moved on to AAA in 2022, where along with a stint in A, he batted .263/.359/.331, with 3 home runs and 34 RBI, in 103 games and 372 AB.

Upon getting traded to the Miami Marlins, he wasn't particularly memorable in his call-up in 2022. He batted .262/.308/.311, with a home run and 2 RBI in 17 games and 61 AB. His power was nowhere to really be found, and it seems that the new regime led by Peter Bendix, didn't really like him all of that much. Groshans spent 2023 in the Minor Leagues with The Fish, batting .243/.339/.330 in AAA, in 125 games and 460 AB.

It's hard to expect the Miami Marlins to miss the 24 year old. That said, it would be a shame if he started doing better upon moving on to the New York Yankees.
