Miami Marlins OF has frustrated us a little too much

The MLB Draft has gotten most of the attention these days, but now the Trade Deadline is on the horizon. We don't know who will be traded. We don't know who won't be either. There is however one player that certainly won't be. That player is OF Dane Myers who is currently injured for six to eight weeks. What happens now?

The Miami Marlins lost OF Dane Myers for around two months or maybe more.

OF Dane Myers has broke out of nowhere for the Miami Marlins. He debuted as a late-bloomer in 2023. He was already 27 years old when he debuted. That season, he batted .269/.286/.358, with a home run and 9 RBI, in 22 games and 67 AB. He was worth -0.3 WAR and a just as bad -0.3 dWAR.

2024 saw OF Dane Myers bat a similar but improved .265/.337/.422, with 2 home runs and 14 RBI in 40 games and 83 AB. This production has been worth 0.5 WAR and a -0.1 dWAR. It's pretty clear that he's not much of a defensive specialist. It's also clear that he's not receiving enough playing time to really show what he can do.

Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of him. He had a great 91.8 EV, but sports an 89.9 EV this season. I just don't have many expectations, or feel much excitement about a late-bloomer who hasn't been too impressive. I'm also not very happy about what recently happened, which was him fracturing his left ankle by kicking a clubhouse door. This was his reaction to being ejected from the July 14 game.

I don't understand how hard someone has to hit a door, in order to suffer such a horrific sounding injury. I also don't understand why he couldn't just control his emotions. This isn't a character trait that I can get behind to be honest. At this point, he will be out for 6 to 8 weeks. He's not a free agent until after the 2029 season and doesn't have much of a track record either. He won't be traded and I'm not too excited to see what he offers when he's back.
