The Miami Marlins have surged over the past week and put aside memories of the horrible August schedule. The Marlins swept the division leading Braves this past weekend and did so in convincing fashion. The Marlins faithful have been enjoying some of the best baseball of the season coming from the fish and it couldn't have come at a better time.

There have been many different things that have gone well for the Marlins this past week or so but one thing shines among the many. One of the many things that has shined this past week has been the big time bullpen play, especially led by Tanner Scott, who has been flawless until Monday night. The Marlins have also done well scoring runs and have averaged a pretty high amount over the past week, as compared to August's 4 runs per game average. The Marlins have also gotten a lot of help over the past week from some less than prime time players, especially pitching help.

The biggest impact of all has been the leadership of the often absent leader of the Marlins ball club. Jazz Chisholm is such an impact player and when he is just one the field and in the lineup then he can swing momentum in such a big way. Chisholm did just that over the past week, enabling the Marlins to successfully navigate the tough weekend schedule.

Chisholm has hit .280 since September 9th with 7 hits, 6 runs and most importantly, 2 grand slams on back to back games. Those 8 RBI represent all of his RBI for the week but the moments were big and he rallied his team to win. Chisholm was not alone in his efforts, as Luis Arraez has had a power surge as well but Chisholm is such a huge plus for the Marlins when he is on. As Jazz goes, so the Marlins go, and it is really evident over the past week. Hopefully for fish faithful, he can continue to dominate and lead them to victory.
