Miami Marlins starting pitcher Eury Perez is having a great season. He has a 2.91 ERA/3.75 FIP, with 11.0 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9 in 14 games and 68.0 innings pitched. He's been worth 2.1 WAR and should be in the running for National League Rookie of the Year. He was recently demoted to the Minor Leagues to keep him at an innings limit, and now he's back. MLB.com ranks him as #9 on their rookie power rankings. Why the low rating?

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Eury Perez is unappreciated by MLB.com

MLB.com ranks Arizona Diamondbacks OF Corbin Carroll as #1 on their list. I can't argue that. Carroll has a 4.1 WAR this season, which is double that of Eury's. He's batting .273/.353/.501 with 21 home runs and 60 RBI. #2 is Baltimore Orioles SS Gunnar Henderson. Gunnar has 4.0 WAR and is batting .249/.331/.484, with 21 home runs and 61 RBI. Once again can't argue that. #3 is New York Mets SP Kodai Senga. Senga has 3.2 WAR and a 3.19 ERA/3.60 FIP, with 10.7 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9. Eury's better overall, but I understand for this season.

Who is #4? Cincinnati Reds SS Matt McLain. McLain has 3.4 WAR and is batting .296/.362/.504, with 13 home runs and 44 RBI in 82 games and 335 AB so far this season. Once again it's had to argue that. #5 is Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas. Casas has a 1.3 WAR and is batting .253/.354/.480 with 20 home uns and 48 RBI. Um what?! How is he ahead of Eury?! This is a low average high power one-dimensional hitter!

At #6 is Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Tanner Bibee. Bibee has 2.7 WAR, based off of his 3.01 ERA/3.64 FIP with 8.9 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 in 20 games and 113.2 innings pitched. This is debatable. #7 is New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez. Alvarez has 1.0 WAR and is batting .221/.291/.455, with 21 home runs and 46 RBI in 94 games and 303 AB. WHAT?! #8 is Boston Red Sox LF Masataka Yoshida, who is batting .296/.350/.462 and is worth 1.4 WAR.

I don't see how it's possible to rate Eury Perez behind Triston Casas, Masataka Yoshida and Francisco Alvarez. This just isn't fair. Eury is an ace in the making.
