Marlins add Position Players

Sean Roby - corner infield

Sean Roby was selected in the 12th round of the 2018 Draft and he is a corner infielder, which the Marlins system desperately needs. Roby hit for Richmond in AA ball over 24 games, but he struggled at the end of the season. Roby will likely be given a chance in AA to improve upon his 2023 hitting where he compiled a .182 average with 2 home runs and 7 RBI. He had a few different seasons in the past where he was an amazing player and hit 25 home runs one season, lets hope he can keep that up.

Marty Costes - outfield

The final selections the Miami Marlins had for the Rule 5 draft was Astros minor leaguer Marty Costes. The outfielder is more a speed guy than a power hitter. averaging around 5 home runs a season. Costes is an intersting pickup as he is almost 28 and has never shown any reason the Astros would call him up to the big league roster, and the Marlins have a bevy of outfielders. Perhaps he is AAA depth, but he hit only 2 home runs and 19 RBI while batting .252, nothing to write home about. Bendix has started to show where he things the Marlins need help and we will see where else he goes for minor league talent.
