The Best of the Rest

Lane Thomas - Nationals

Outfielder Lane Thomas would be a great pick for the Marlins if they can acquire him.  Thomas is hitting .285 with 16 home runs and 55 RBI and is under team control until 2026.  Thomas would be a great fit and could anchor the lineup in the middle next to Jazz Chisholm.  Thomas has drawn a lot of interest so the Marlins might have to put together a costly package if they want to acquire him.

Brent Rooker - Athletics

Rooker was a hot name in May to be acquired by a big payroll team but the 28 year old could be a trade deadline bargain as he has not played as well lately.  Rooker is still hitting .248 with 17 home runs and 47 RBI and he hit 4 home runs in July.  Could Rooker pop back up as a value add who is under control until 2028, it’s a real possibility.  Rooker is hitting 3rd for the Athletics and could be the biggest opportunity other than Thomas to add a big bat. Ryan Noda is another real chance from Oakland but he is currently on the IL.
