Miami Marlins won a major road series!
The Miami Marlins just won a major early road series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The seriesstarted with a shocking 15-3 loss. The Fish won the next game 8-4 and then won the finale 3-2 in dramatic fashion in the 10'th inning. The series had massive disappointments and franchise firsts. Are you ready to take a look at this awesome series?
The Miami Marlins won a dramatic road series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Philadelphia Phillies are the defending National League champions, so despite a bad start to the season, it looked like they would probably win this home series. There was hope for the Miami Marlins however... the reigning NL Cy Young award winner Sandy Alcantara was going on the mound for the series opener. Sandy had one of the worst games of his career, and arguably his worst. He gave up 9 runs, 10 hits and a home run in 4 innings. This was bad. Really bad. He shoud be better in his next start at least.
Game 2 saw a much better result for the Miami Marlins. It also saw a historic performance from 2B Luis Arraez. Arraez completed the first cycle in Miami Marlins history! He went 4-5 with a home run and 2 RBI. Arraez has been so good this season, that he should honestly be receiving National League MVP votes at the end of the season.
Game 3 was a classic (at least in my opinion). The Miami Marlins took a 1-0 lead at the top of the fourth inning, but Philadelphia tied it in the bottom. The following inning, Philly took the 2-1 lead. The score remained the same until the top of the eighth, when The Fish finally tied it. The game then went into extra innings, where The Fish took a 3-2 lead and then held on for the win. A.J. Puk was the hero in my book, pitching two scoreless innings and adding 2 strikeouts (only giving up one hit).
The Miami Marlins winning a road series against the Philadelphia Phillies is a big deal. If The Fish can take this momentum, and win the next series against the Arizona Diamondbacks this season is going to be on the right track.
