More help is coming to the Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins haven't been doing so great lately. The Fish lost three out of fou at home to the Philadelphia Phillies. Right after came a three game sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers. This is terrible and the team is only a few games above .500. Some bats need to get hot, and The Fish are already adjusting the roster to help improve the team.
The Miami Marlins are getting Eury Perez back.
I'm as tired as all of us watching the Miami Marlins lose games that the team must win. Perhaps that losing is finally coming to an end. Will a starting pitcher with a 2.36 ERA help the team?! Eury Perez is coming back to the team! I can't be more excited to report the return of the young phenom. I don't want to raise the expectations too high, but he's the type of player that can make a tremendous difference. The inteesting thing is that The Fish's losing steak can be traced back to his demotion back to the Minor Leagues.
Eury Perez is worth 2.0 WAR this season. The reason? He has an aforementioned 2.36 ERA along with a 3.70 FIP, with 10.3 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 in 11 games and 53.1 innings pitched. The strikeout rate is elite and the walk rate, while higher than it should be isn't exactly bad either. The only possible issue that I can see is that the FIP is considerable worse than his ERA. Is that a sign of things to come. I sure hope not! I'm pretty confident that he'll be effective as he was prior to his demotion.
It's vital that Eury Perez continue being as effective as he was before, as if he struggles it'll be catastrophic. The Miami Marlins are 0.5 games out of the final NL Wild Card spot, so every win matters and the playoffs may just come down to Eury Perez pitching like an ace down the stretch. That's a lot to ask for from the young ace, but that's the nature of the game during playoff pushes.
