Move that the Miami Marlins must make to make the playoffs

The Miami Marlins are now projected to make the playoffs! This is great news, but also not a guarantee. The biggest issue standing between The Fish and the playoffs, is a certain 2022 National League Cy Young award winner. I'm talking about Sandy Alcantara of course. Mr. Sandy's Beach. The last two seasons are like night and day, and it's going to decide this season for The Fish. What is the solution to this problem?

The Miami Marlins have a problem on Sandy's Beach.

Sandy Alcantara was a solid top of the rotation starting pitcher from 2017 to 2021. During that time, he delivered a 3.49 ERA/4.04 FIP with 8.0 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9. If you take out his St. Louis Cardinals days, then he produced a 3.48 ERA/4.01 FIP with 7.9 K/9 nd 3.2 BB/9. Sandy broke out as the best starting pitcher in the game last season.

Sandy was perfect in 2022. He delivered a 2.28 ERA/2.99 FIP with 8.1 K/9 and 2.0 BB/9. He was worth an amazing 8.0 WAR and deservedly won the National League Cy Young award. I remember getting tickets for Miami Marlins games that Sandy was pitching, knowing that it was basically a guaranteed win. This season however...

Sandy Alcantara, the best starting pitcher in the game just last season has a 5.08 ERA/3.77 FIP, with 7.3 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 in 15 games and 95.2 innings pitched. What's going on?! What happened to our ace?! Has Sandy's beach transferred to Antarctica? He still has a 98.0 MPH fastball and he still has good projections on Fangraphs. Their various projection estimators project numbers such as 3.40 for him the rest of the way.

It's pretty clear that if Sandy Alcantara was back to his 2022 form, the Miami Marlins would not just be holding a Wild Card spot. The Fish would be competing with the Atlanta Braves for the division. Something is wrong with him, and The Fish need to find out what it is.

It could be that he's tipping pitches, it could be some mechanical issues... the Miami Marlins can't afford to wait. It's time to investigate what's wrong with our ace, and bring back Summer to Sandy's beach.
