The Miami Marlins should add Gurriel to their team and here are two reasons why

The Marlins could use some playoff experience with Soler leaving

Could the Miami Marlins snag a member of the World Series Diamondbacks? Who knows exactly where any player on the Arizona Diamondbacks or Texas Rangers will go since they are still playing but the Diamondbacks have an outfielder that could fit a big need in Miami. I think he would really be worth it if the price isn’t too high.

Lourdes Gurriel is a versatile All-Star free agent

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel is a versatile and hard working player. Gurriel has the ability to hit that the Marlins need but also the game experience to help them in the playoffs. Yuli, his brother, knows him well and I’m sure he would give a big yes to him coming to the Marlins.

Lourdes slashed .261/.309/.463 while hitting 35 doubles, 24 home runs, and drove in 82 runs. Gurriel has been around the same numbers for the last 3 full seasons and so it seems he will produce in Miami. Gurriel hit the vast majority of his home runs at home in Arizona but he still hit 9 on the road.

Why bring in Gurriel? For one he is a utility player and can play infield and outfield which is very helpful. Gurriel is also a younger player at only 24 years old so he could have many quality years ahead. The Marlins need another bat as well as an outfielder and he fits the bill. Gurriel might be one of the best free agent outfielders available and so could be expensive but he won’t have to do much to best the production of Jean Segura or Avisail Garcia and he could absorb their salaries no problem.

Segura is gone so that at least frees up some money that could be thrown his way. Make it happen unknown Marlins GM, whomever and wherever you are, we need you to make a few deals quick!
