Victor Robles might be a change of scenery candidate

There are some silly narratives going around about the Miami Marlins. Is the team set up to fail? Not in the way it's assumed. It is in fact true that some signings just didn't work out, but maybe this other change of scenery candidate actually will. I'm of course talking about CF Victor Robles. The Fish already have a great CF in Jazz Chisholm Jr., but some more OF depth wouldn't hurt the team.

Should the Miami Marlins sign Victor Robles or not?

The Miami Marlins don't really need a CF. As I said earlier, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is great already. That said, there's something to be said about finding reclamation projects that just work out. Victor Robles might just fit that bill. Back in 2019, he batted .255/.326/.419, with 17 home runs and 65 RBI in 155 games and 546 AB. He also stole an impressive 28 bases. Add in an elite 2.7 dWAR and he was worth a great 4.4 WAR.

Things haven's been as good for Victor Robles since, as he's batted .222/.301/.308 in 341 games and 981 AB from 2020-2024. Washington has now officially given up on him and are about to release hime. So why should The Fish bother with him? Well, once again I encourage you to look at that 2019 season. Robles is just 27 years old and just entering his prime. Is it possible that he can still be fixed? I think it's a definite possibility.

Victor Robles should be available to The Fish for the league minimum. It makes perfect sense to then pick him up and see what he has to offer. He can be on the bench and be used as a pinch runner, as well as a defensive sub. If he shows anything more, maybe there can be a path for him to get more playing time.

I don't see any issue with the Miami Marlins signing Victor Robles to the team. He may be able to show that he has something left and he won't be expensive to try out on the field either.
