The Miami Marlins playoff chances going forward
The Miami Marlins just won a third straught series! The 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia yesterday, gave The Fish the series win. The Fish also now have an 8-2 record in the last ten games. Can this momentum carry over into making the MLB Postseason? Can The Fish make the playoffs for the first time since 2020, and the first in a full regular season since 2003?
The Miami Marlins are trying to make the MLB Postseason.
The Miami Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds, San Francisco Giants, Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs are competing for the three National League Wild Card spots. The Fish are starting a four game away series against the Milwaukee Brewers tonight. That is followed by three 3 game home series. The first a tough one against the Atlanta Braves, the second is a hopefully easy one against the New York Mets, and the third is against Milwaukee.
The Fish then have a potential lucky break with two three game away series against the New York Mets and then the Pittsburgh Pirates. What about Philadelphia? They're playing four games against Atlanta at home; followed by a 3 game away series against the St. Louis Cardinals. They then play Atlanta again in a 3 game away series. Those two Atlanta series are tough to say the least. The end of the schedule is light however: 4 games against the Mets at home; 3 games against Pittsburgh at home and 3 against the Mets away.
Cincinnati has a lucky break with 3 games against the Detroit Tigers and then 3 against the New York Mets on the road. They then get a 3 game home series against the Minnesota Twins, and 3 at home against Pittsburgh. 2 games away against the Cleveland Guardians, and 3 against St. Louis on the road are next. The Chicago Cubs have 3 at home against Pittsburgh; 3 at home against the Colorado Rockies and then finally some tough games. They have 6 games on the road, with 3 against Atlanta and 3 against Milwaukee.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have 4 on the road against the Mets; 3 at home against the Cubs; 2 at home against San Francisco; then 6 on the road, with 3 against the New York Yankees and 3 against the Chicago White Sox. They finish with 3 at home against the Houston Astros. As far as San Francisco goes, they have 3 home games against Cleveland; followed by a road trip that includes 4 against the Colorado Rockies, 2 against Arizona, 4 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and then 6 at home. The 6 at home are 3 against the San Diego Padres and 3 against LA.
The San Francisco Giants have the worst schedule going forward, and the Chicago Cubs have a terrible ending. Things are actually getting a bit easier for the Miami Marlins in the end. Will Jazz Chisholm Jr. and the rest of The Fish get the job done?
