The upcoming Miami Marlins fire sale might include surprising players
MLBTR made some interesting predictions about the Trade Deadline
This season isn't going well for the Miami Marlins. This in turn makes you think about who The Fish might actually consider trading during the seemingly inevitable sell-off. Some players are definitely not going to be on that list. MLB Trade Rumors made a list of their own however. Is it accurate?
Who will the Miami Marlins trade at the Trade Deadline?
Starting off the list is SP Jesus Luzardo. I already talked about him before. With two years of team control left and high demand, that definitely makes sense to me. I would prefer to keep him of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's traded. I don't agree with their takes on fellow starting pitchers Trevor Rogers and Edward Cabrera. I don't see either being traded this year. It's still unclear what kind of pitcher Rogers is and the same applies for Cabrera. Figuring out their value may keep trades from happening.
The list includes some hitters too. Those hitters are naturally upcoming free agent 1B Josh Bell and CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.. MLBTR isn't high on a Bell trade. I agree with that assessment. He's not good enough to warrant a team taking on his $16 million salary. I wouldn't be surprised if a trade goes through if he picks things up, but the colder he is the unlikelier the trade is.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. is arguably the hardest player to move. He's been injured quite a bit throughout his career. The combination of his talent and injury history makes it very hard to figure out his exact value. This also means that The Fish may not be able and may not be willing to trade him. The fact that his free agency is still years away only complicates things. I'm not sure why he's on the list when he won't be traded. 2B Luis Arraez is mentioned too and I certainly expect the free agent to be moved in the near future.
It's easier to expect some relief pitchers being moved, with upcoming free agent Tanner Scott being at the top of the list. He may not be as good as he was last year, but relievers get moved and you know that the Miami Marlins won't extend him. He was an easy choice for MLBTR. Overall, the list is solid but has some names that won't be moved.
