For the first time in what MLB surely hopes will become an annual tradition, clusters of top prospects will be taking the field in a spring showdown reserved just for them this upcoming weekend.
Dubbed "Spring Breakout," MLB teams will be taking a break from traditional spring training contests, moving all the fun stuff from the back four innings to the front. Now, Marlins fans will get to see all their top prospects face off with the big names who share their complex -- the St. Louis Cardinals -- in a seven-inning showdown to determine whose future is brighter.
Max Meyer's returned to the mound. Jacob Berry's ready to slug. It's all coming together.

Marlins vs Cardinals Spring Breakout Game Live Stream, Roster and Details
The Marlins and Cardinals will face off at 2:05 PM EST on Friday, March 15. Technically, it's a home game for the Cards, but that just means you get to set eyes on the Marlins' bats first. Win-win.
Rosters for the game will include a vast swath of the Marlins' Top 30 prospects, per MLB Pipeline's updated list. In terms of the rules, MLB fans will get to see some potential future innovations showcased in this seven-inning contest; the automatic ball-strike system will be on display in Jupiter, so umpires need not apply.
The focus will be on the talent, anyway. Thomas White, one of Miami's top prospects, will get the nod after being selected 35th overall last June. Noble Meyer, the team's top-ranked arm (per MLB Pipeline), should also see plenty of action. Jacob Amaya, the fruits of last year's Miguel Rojas trade with the Dodgers, will also receive a showcase opportunity.
So let's see whose youngsters reign supreme, in an early preview of the 2027 NLCS (Marlins and Cardinals fans can dream!).
