Worst Case Scenario for the Miami Marlins might be exactly what happens

The Miami Marlins could have a disaster of an offseason confirmed, if they do not make any moves as we inch closer towards Spring Training. The Marlins outfield depth chart is filled with Jazz Chisholm, jr., Bryan De La Cruz, Jesus Sanchez, and Avisail Garcia. Kim Ng has destined the Marlins payroll for disaster with Garcia under contract for two more seasons and will make 13 million dollars this season, since all of his $53 million contact is guaranteed money.

What a disaster Kim Ng left the Marlins

This is a horrible contract for a low budget team like the Marlins, sinking $13 million into a below average outfielder, who may not even hit 13 home runs this season. The Marlins are unlikely to find someone to take on that big contract and so they are forced to keep him or just drop him and waste $13 million.

It seems the Marlins are reluctant to sign anyone of value with Avisail Garcia’s contract looming over their head. It is definitely hard to blame them when they are stuck with $26 million over the next two seasons, unless they can trade him. I can’t imagine he has any trade value as he had 8 home runs in 2022 and 3 last year in only 108 at bats.

Skip Schumaker has his work cut out for him, trying to find a starting right fielder and a DH. To make the comparison even worse García is making close to what Soler made last year. Hopefully the Marlins can find a big bat for cheaper to sign but Bendix probably isn’t given much money to work with in that regards. The best hope the Marlins have with the way the roster currently stands is Troy Johnston putting up big time numbers as a Rookie.
