2 Miami Marlins division rival prospects are in the top 10

Recent farm system news are not very pleasant for the Miami Marlins, though there's some hope for the future. The recent MLB top 100 prospects list accentuates some of these points, with three Marlins players, but also featuring none in the top ten. There are however two division rival prospects on the list. They are Andrew Painter of the Philadelphia Phillies and Dylan Crews of the Washington Nationals.

Miami Marlins rivals have two prospects on the top 100 MLB prospects.

The Miami Marlins don't have any top prospects in the top 10 of the top 100. This is far from encouraging news, but as I mentioned having three in the top 100 is still promising for the future. I want to focus on the division rival prospects on the list however.

Let's start with RHP Andrew Painter of the Philadelphia Phillies. Painter has an impressive 1.48 ERA for his Minor League career. He missed some significant time with injury, but is listed at number 8 on the list, and is expected by many to make his debut in the 2025 season. He has the upside of a Major League ace. It's definitely worrying to look at this as a Miami Marlins fan.

Andrew Painter has all of the stuff of an elite arm, as even his heater reaches 100 mph! The other divisional rival on the list is OF Dylan Crews of the Washington Nationals. The OF is a speedster, with a good bat and defensive skills. He's basically a "5 category superstar" in the making if all goes right for Washington. Crews already debuted for the team in the 2024 season. That last season, he batted .218/.288/.353, with 3 home runs and 8 RBI in 31 games and 119 AB. He was worth 0.6 WAR.

Dylan Crews will receive another chance to impress everyone in the 2025 season. Andrew Painter will potentially receive his own chance as well. This is an exciting time for both Philly and Washington, but hopefully the Miami Marlins will have a prospect on that level at some point in the future as well.
