It was an eventful day for the Miami Marlins. The international prospect signing day saw The Fish end up with SS/OF Andrew Salas for $3,700,000, but he was only one of the signings. There were others as well. While no interesting trades happened, a minor one took place instead of it. It's time to take a look at what transpired on this eventful day for The Fish.

The Miami Marlins were very busy on international signing day.

The Miami Marlins brought in some interesting prospects on this busy day. I already covered the Andrew Salas signing, but the rest are interesting as well. Dominican RHP Kevin Defrank is very interesting as well. He's a very hard thrower who could certainly make an impact one day. The 16-year old was signed for $560,000. He is 6'4 and 215 lbs. He also has a great fastball, that already clocks in at 92-93 mph. I'm very curious to see how it will look like when he matures. Defrank's best pitch is his change-up. He's been described this way:

"He's significantly more advanced than a lot of other guys, so he's got a really good foundation to begin with. He's been involved in our process, coaches are already fully aware of what he brings to the table, and are equally as excited to begin working with him and getting that process going. I think because he is so advanced in certain areas, he should put himself in a really good position for his talent to show up on the field. And again, I know that we have a really, really good support system that's going to give him everything necessary to ultimately become that impact player we think he can be.”

RHP Adrian Pena, a fellow Dominican was signed for $400,000. Yet another Dominican, SS Anthony Abreu was signed for $550,000. SS Johan Machado was signed from Venezuela for $330,000. The Miami Marlins farm system should get a very significant boost from all of these signings. I'm very excited to see what the system's rating is going to be at this time next year.
