Weekly Recap (2/13/12-2/19/12)
Have not done this in a while, but today we will get back into doing the weekly reviews. Weekly reviews help the readers get to articles that may have been glossed over during the week due to someone being busy. I will have one up each Monday recapping the past week.
Without any further ado, let me get this rolling.
Will Stanifer:
- John Buck did not have his best season in 2011. The Miami Marlins are going to need a stronger campaign from him in order to be contenders. Will outlines what you should expect from Buck in 2012.
- The Marlins have been extremely active this off-season. This lead to ESPN’s Buster Olney making an interesting statement. Will examines that statement and looks at the scenarios laid out for the Marlins in 2012.
Matthew Schnur:
- Josh Johnson is the key to contention for the Miami Marlins in 2012. Matthew examines the importance of an ace to a playoff bound team.
James C. Etzbach Jr.:
- The Miami Marlins have been selected to be featured on Showtime’s “The Franchise“. James assures us that what we see off the field should be just as interesting as what happens on the field. I personally cannot wait!
Ehsan Kassim:
- The 1997 v. 2003: Center Field results are in. Check out the results to see who won between Juan Pierre and Devon White!
- In a surprising turn of events, Yoenis Cespedes choose the Oakland Athletics over the Marlins. Cespedes will be taking his talents to the Bay Area and Emilio Bonifacio is likely to man center field for the Marlins in 2012.
- The 1997 v. 2003 series continued with a look at the right fielders for the World Series teams. The poll is still open, so please go ahead and vote before the results are posted later today.
- In another poll, I ask, are the Marlins investing too much of their playoff chances on the right shoulder of Josh Johnson?
- Very sad and shocking news happened earlier this week. Hall of Fame Catcher Gary Carterpassed away due to a brain tumor. We all here at MarlinManiac are saddened by this loss. Baseball has lost a great man!
- Hanley Ramirez had something to tweet about something that was said about him in a Domincan newspaper. Read my story on Hanley Ramirez and Jose Reyes to find out what was said. The post also contains some photos from the Marlins charity golf event.
