With Jose Fernandez’ season now over, it is time to look at what I think are Jose’s top 5 moments of his masterful rookie season. This list was tough because Jose had so many great moments this year, but these are the 5 moments in my eyes that are Jose’s best. So without any further ado, here are El Bebe’s Top 5 Moments.

5. April 7, 2013

A lot of questions were going around when the Marlins called up El Bebe. Was he ready? How will he do? Can he handle the pressure? Will he live up to the hype? On April 7, 2013 we had our questions answered. El Bebe went 5 IP, gave up only 1 R, 3 H, only walked 1, and struck out 8 Mets. This was El Bebe’s coming out party and boy was it a good one. He didn’t get the win but…

4.  May 4, 2013

El Bebe recorded his first career win on May 4 against the Phillies and boy what a win! He went 7.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, and at that time a career high 9 SO! The Phillies just didn’t have an answer for El Bebe. The Marlins won 2-0 and when you pitch as well as El Bebe sometimes all you need is 2 runs, but sometimes it nice to have more…

3. August 2, 2013

On probably El Bebe’s best night this season the offense came alive for him scoring 10 runs against the Indians; but the offense wasn’t the only thing baffling the Indians. El Bebe went 8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, and a career high 14 Ks! This was such a great performance I think he deserves an award or something…

2. All His Awards

I could have probably done a Top 5 on just the awards El Bebe has won this year. This year El Bebe has won 2 Player of the Week, 2 Rookie of the Month, and the August Pitching Performance of the Month for his performance on August 2 (hey number 3 on this list)! It’s like he should be an All-Star…

Alright, there is no secret that I did not like the way the announcers handled El Bebe at the All-Star game (read this); but it did not take away from his performance. In the top of the 6th the NL was down 2-0 with Dustin Pedroia, Miguel Cabrera, and Chris Davis up to bat and in comes El Bebe. What does he do? Pedroia struck out looking, Cabrera popped out to first, and Davis struck out swinging! Welcome to the big show El Bebe! Even if the announces thought Jason Grilli’s beard was more important, Fernandez was the star of the NL show.

What’s left for El Bebe this season? How about Rookie of the Year? Only time will tell if they give El Bebe the award, but this fan thinks they should. Let me know what you think El Bebe’s Top 5 moments were this season in the comments or on Twitter. Till next time as always… Let’s Go Marlins and Jose For ROY! (#JOSE4ROY)

Honorable Mention:

Take a look at this article for the breakdown of Jose’s Home Run because if I would have done this list at the end of the season, it would have made Top 5 easily!
