2. 3B/OF Kris Bryant

A former NL MVP and World Series champion with the Cubs, Bryant was traded to the San Francisco Giants at the 2021 MLB Trade Deadline where he continued his impressive 2021 season. Named to his fourth career All-Star team this past season, Bryant appeared in a total of 144 games in which he slashed .265/.353/.481 with 25 home runs, 73 RBI’s, and 10 stolen bases.

The 29-year-old enters free agency for the first time in his career this offseason, and will receive interest from numerous teams as not only the top third baseman available, but also a player who saw time at all three outfield positions in 2021. While a return to San Francisco is a possibility, a potential addition of Bryant would give Miami not only a former MVP, but one of the best third baseman in the game.

1. OF Nick Castellanos

One of the most-intriguing potential options for the Miami Marlins this offseason is Nick Castellanos, one of the top overall hitters during the 2021 MLB season. Appearing in a total of 138 games with the Cincinnati Reds this past season, the 29-year-old slashed .309/.362/.576 with 34 home runs and 100 RBI’s while making his first-career All-Star appearance.

Still with multiple years remaining on his current deal with the Reds, Castellanos has the ability to opt-out of his deal in the offseason, and would easily become one of the top overall bats available if he does. A south Florida native, the potential impact that Castellanos would have for the Marlins is evident as not only a corner outfielder, but also one of the best potential DH’s in the game.

Now yes, there is always the possibly that few, if any, of these five players would even be available for the Marlins in free agency. However, if the Miami Marlins are going to spend to acquire a star-caliber free agent, any of these five would be no-brainers if potentially available.
