3) His Age

When you consider he has played seven full seasons in the KBO, one might expect Kim to be an aged veteran. However, the star is still only 25 years old.

Miami seems to lack a defensively capable player at shortstop in 2025 and beyond. They have attempted to bridge the gap by gambling on veterans like Tim Anderson and playing talents like Xavier Edwards out of position.

However, signing a talent like Kim would provide the Marlins with a real solution to their shortstop dilemma. As he enters his age 26 season, the Korean star would also fit perfectly in Miami's timeline. He is a perfect candidate to grow alongside a young Marlins core.

4) The Pricetag

For context, former San Diego infielder Ha-seong Kim received a four-year, $28 million contract with the Padres upon his arrival in MLB. Centerfielder Jung Hoo Lee also inked a six-year, $113 million deal with the Giants.

MLB Trade Rumors projects the younger Kim will land a deal in the range of three years, $24 million. Other outlets post similar projections.

$8 million per year is an affordable and worthwhile price to pay for an everyday shortstop. Even a small market team like the Marlins could easily fit Kim in their budget.
