As we're nearing MLB Hall of Fame inductions, Miami Marlins division rivals are in the running. As we're watching potentially questionable trades take place, let's take a look at another former member of the team. That member was Curtis Granderson. He did not spend much time on the team, but he had quite a career before with the Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees.

Should former Miami Marlins OF Curtis Granderson get into the Hall of Fame?

Curtis Granderson did not have a memorable career with the Miami Marlins. He was a bench player in the 2019 season. That season, he batted .183/.281/.356 with 12 home runs and 34 RBI, in 138 games and 317 AB. It was a dreadful performance worth -1.6 WAR. Obviously it would be laughable to call him a Hall of Famer based on that performance.

Granderson's peak came with Detroit and then the Bronx Bombers from 2007 to 2011. In that 2007 season with Detroit, he batted .302/.361/.552, with 23 home runs and 74 RBI in 158 games and 612 AB. He was worth 7.6 WAR for that performance.

Granderson's best season with the New York Yankees came in 2011, when he was worth 6.1 WAR. That season, he batted .262/.364/.552, with 41 home runs and 119 RBI in 156 games and 583 AB. The strikeouts have been Granderson's biggest problem. He was an elite defender in CF in his prime.

Should Curtis Granderson get into the Hall of Fame? The answer to that is a definite no. He has a career .249/.337/.465 batting line in his 16 years. He has a total of 47.2 WAR for his career. That's too low for him to make the Hall of Fame, and I don't see him as good enough to get in. I also fully expect him to miss out on getting in. It's just reality though, he was good, but he wasn't great and you need to be great to get into the Hall. Granderson is one member of the Miami Marlins who will have to settle for just having a good reputation.
