These days we're busy looking at Miami Marlins trades and analyzing past trades. In the meantime, the MLB Hall of Fame is potentially adding some new members. One of these potential members is former Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley. Will Utley get in into the Hall? Or will he miss out on an amazing opportunity to be enshrined forever?

Former Miami Marlins rival bat is potentially a Hall of Famer.

It can be a bit frustrating to see rival teams send former players into the MLB Hall of Fame, while the Miami Marlins are not in te position to do that. That said, I do believe that deserving players should be getting in, and have no issue if that player has played for a rival team. The question is will Chase Utley be getting in?

Chase Utley has been one of the best second basemen of the last generation. He played from 2003 to 2015 with the Philadelphia Phillies. He was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the middle of the 2015 season. He continued to play for LA from the 2016 to the 2018 season. He was past his prime at that point, but was still a clubhouse veteran and likely one of the leaders.

Chase Utley compiled 64.5 WAR for his career, which certainly seems to be about enough for him to get in. Utley's peak came from the 2005 to the 2009 season. During that time span, he batted .301/.388/.535 and was worth 39.7 WAR. The World Series winning 2008 season saw Utley bat .292/.380/.535, with 33 home runs and 104 RBI in 159 games and 607 AB. He was worth and amazing 9.0 WAR.

In 2009, Chase Utley batted .282/.397/.508, with 31 home runs and 93 RBI, in 156 games and 571 AB. He was worth 8.2 WAR. Health issues affected him in latter seasons, but he was easily an elite hitter and the best second baseman in the game during his prime years.

Chase Utley may not get into the Hall of Fame in 2025, but I do expect him to get in at some point. I see Chase Utley as a deserving Hall of Famer and do hope that he gets in.
