The Miami Marlins season is finally underway. Sadly, The Fish had to deal with injuries right from the beginning, but there's still promise for some prospects who may make an impact later this season. The question is how is the farm system looking? How do the systems rank at this point? Where are The Fish on the list at this time? Is Peter Bendix's plan working?

Is the Miami Marlins farm system improving?

The Detroit Tigers apparently have the best farm in the game, which is huge for a team that is trying to be competitive again for the first time in a decade. The Tampa Bay Rays continue to inspire the Miami Marlins by having the second best farm system in the Major Leagues. Let's hope w eget there some day soon. I'm not going to list all of the farms just the notable ones by the way.

Is it any surprise that the Los Angeles Dodgers are in the fourth spot? As MLB.com says they're basically a "model franchise" at this point. Consistently making the playoffs and having an elite farm. The New York Mets are ranked twelfth, which is of course not good for The Fish. The big spending team has a mid-tier farm. Fellow division rivals the Washington Nationals are ranked thirteenth and have the number one pick in this summer's MLB Draft.

The Baltimore Orioles fell from having a top five farm to number fifteen. The Miami Marlins are finally on the list in sixteenth place. Middle of the pack but hopefully on the rise. Key prospects include (#41 on the top 100) LHP Thomas White, SS Starlyn Caba (#80) and RHP Noble Meyer (#84). The farm rose drastically in the last few months, second only to the Chicago White Sox. The Fish spent $18.5 million in the international market during that time.

The Philadelphia Phillies follow The Fish in 17'th place having the lowest ranked farm among the NL East teams. The good news is that the Miami Marlins farm system is on the rise, which means that the team should theoretically be getting better.
