The new face of the Miami Marlins was supposed to take steps forward this season, but it appears that he might not even be able to play on Opening Day. In fact he is out for a month. This is frustrating news for The Fish and I'm certainly hoping that it's not that serious of an injury, and that we will see Connor Norby back sooner rather than later.

Miami Marlins third baseman Connor Norby is injured.

Connor Norby is a burgeoning young star for the Miami Marlins. The young third baseman batted .247/.315/.445, with 7 home runs and 17 RBI in 36 games and 146 AB. He was worth 0.2 WAR for that small sample size. Norby is a hard working player, who was fully expecting to take steps forward this season, and potentially be a key part of the middle of The Fish's batting order.

Unfortunately, Norby has suffered a left oblique injury. He's currently lacking strength on the left side of his body, which is sadly a sign that things are not looking particularly good for him. Norby said this:

“I went to third, thought it was a cramp, wanted a second, wasn't a cramp, and then the adrenaline kind of wore off, and I was just kind of hanging out and talking to the trainers in the locker room. It just kept getting tighter and tighter, and then last night, not a lot of movement was going on.”

He will receive imaging for the injury and the team was hopeful that he could make it by Opening Day, but he is now out for four weeks, which is basically a month. DH Jonah Bride and Eric Wagaman are some options to fill in at third base, while Norby is out with his injury. Losing him for any amount of time is obviously far from ideal, as he's supposed to be one of the faces of the team.

I'm really hopeful that Connor Norby will be back as soon as possible, or at the very least that he won't be out for a long amount of time. He's a good young player and should get every chance to break out further.
