New face of the Miami Marlins is on the rise

The current face of the Miami Marlins is sadly probably on his way out. In the meantime, Peter Bendix's big acquisition from last season new third baseman Connor Norby. The former top Baltimore Orioles prospect is hopefully headed for another big season. He's also now taking over as the new face of the team. What can we expect from him this upcoming season.

Miami Marlins promotional materials for the 2025 season feature third baseman Connor Norby among a couple other players. Norby batted .247/.315/.445, with 7 home runs and 17 RBI in 36 games and 146 AB for The Fish in 2024. Overall, for The Fish and the Baltimore Orioles just prior to his trade, he batted .188/.188/.406, with 2 home runs and 3 RBI in 9 games and 32 AB.

I'm a bit worried about Norby's 86.2 EV for the season. He definitely needs to get that up to be a legit power hitter. Fangraphs projects him to bat .254/.317/.423, with 20 home runs and 75 RBI in 135 games. That's his best projection for the season.

Connor Norby was excited about being feature din the promotional material and had this to say:

"As a player, that's what you want. It's definitely cool. … How I think, how I train, my desire to be the best I can be -- and I have super high expectations for myself -- and I'm going to do whatever I have to do to get there. As a player, that's really cool to think about, but if you're ever wondering if I'm complacent or if it's something that gets to my head, no."

It was pointed out by Bendix that Norby needs to work on his defense. The third baseman was originally a second baseman of course. He is however determined to improve and is focused on proving to everyone how good he can be.

Connor Norby is committed to winning and helping the Miami Marlins become a better team. It will be exciting to watch him do that and see if the team has an actual superstar in the making. Peter Bendix certainly believes so.
