Connor Norby is making Miami Marlins history
The 2025 season is looking intriguing with the Miami Marlins lineup looking more and more set every day. One specific player has had an amazing debut and is a clear core player going forward. He's making the trade with the Baltimore Orioles look even more like a fleece. The player that I'm talking about is third baseman Connor Norby. He has now made history.
Miami Marlins 3B Connor Norby is making team history.
Last night, in the 9-8 comeback win over the Colorado Rockies, Connor Norby had his eighth consecutive game with a hit since his debut. His streak is from August 18 to August 27. Three other players did the same thing in Miami Marlins history. 2B Starlin Castro was the last player to do so from March 29 to April 7, 2018. Overall, Castro played for The Fish from 2018-2019. He batted .274/.314/.418 in that time.
Two other players had the same streak as Norby. CF Alejandro De Aza did the same thing from April 2 to April 10, 2007. He batted a disappointing .229/.261/.313, with 0 home runs and 8 RBI in 45 games and 144 AB in that season. He also played for The Fish in the 2009 season, when he batted .250/.385/.300 with 0 home runs and 3 RBI, in 22 games and 20 AB.
SS Hanley Ramirez did it back in 2006 as well. You can look back at his time on The Fish. Eight consecutive games with a hit after his debut is not actually a Marlins record however. The record is actually 12 hits. Two players managed to accomplish that feat.
The first player to reach 12 consecutive games with a hit since his debut is RF Gary Sheffield. He did this from June 25 to July 7, 1993. He had quite a career with the Miami Marlins. The other player to do so was CF Juan Pierre. He did so from March 31 to April 12, 2003. That was of course a season in which The Fish won the World Series. Pierre played for the team from 2003 to 2005, batting .303/.354/.378 in the process.
Connor Norby has made history and is a core player for the Miami Marlins.
