Miami Marlins make Baltimore look ridiculous after this move

The Trade Deadline was a win for the Miami Marlins and Peter Bendix. The amount of prospects acquired was phenomenal and The Fish's farm system has improved a lot. The trade that stood out the most, was The Fish trading starting pitcher Trevor Rogers to the Baltimore Orioles for new third baseman Connor Norby and LF Kyle Stowers. Rogers actually bashed the team right after the trade. The trade looked good, but now it looks even worse for Baltimore.

The Miami Marlins completely fleeced the Baltimore Orioles.

It didn't look like a good trade for Baltimore from the beginning. Trevor Rogers was an injury-prone starting pitcher who hasn't really been productive in years. From 2022 to 2023 with the Miami Marlins he pitched to a 5.26 ERA/4.32 FIP, with 9.0 K/9 and 3.7 BB/9 in 27 games and 125.0 innings pitched. He was pretty bad to say the least. That's why it was odd that Baltimore saw him as a solution to their starting pitching problems.

Trevor Rogers wasn't much better with The Fish this season. He pitched to a 4.53 ERA/4.43 FIP, with 7.3 K/9 and 3.9 BB/9 in 21 games and 105.1 innings pitched. The strikeout rate was down and his control was below average. He looked like at best middle of the rotation starting pitcher. There was little to no reason for anyone to see him as an upgrade to their pitching staff. Keep in mind that due to his extensive injury history, there was also no guarantee that he'd even stay healthy down the stretch.

Rogers' performance for Baltimore was almost laughably bad. He pitched to a 7.11 ERA/5.01 FIP, with 5.7 K/9 and 4.7 BB/9 in 4 games and 19.0 innings pitched. He's now been demoted to the Minor Leagues. It really couldn't be worse for Baltimore...oh wait... but it can! Connor Norby, the top acquisition by The Fish in the trade, is currently batting .308/.308/.462 for the Miami Marlins. It's a small sample size of just 3 games and 13 AB, but it's a very good start. Regardless, it's hard to see any silver lining for Baltimore. They were fleeced by Peter Bendix.
