What a steal by the Miami Marlins! We were all sad when a certain blockbuster trade went down over the weekend. More moves followed, but there was a lot of anger at Peter Bendix over the trade. It certainly looks like the vibe has changed. Why shouldn't it? The Fish received a haul for SP Trevor Rogers, who really didn't fit on the team long-term. Let's get into this...

The Miami Marlins received a haul for Trevor Rogers from Baltimore

Guess who has an amazing rotation for 2025? The Miami Marlins of course! The Fish have Sandy Alcantara, Eury Perez, Ryan Weathers, Jesus Luzardo, Max Meyer, Braxton Garrett and Edward Cabrera in the mix. I would easily take Sandy, Weathers, Eury, Luzardo, Meyer and Braxton over Rogers. Trevor's best season with The Fish happened in 2021. He had a 2.64 ERA/2.55 FIP, with 10.6 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9.

It's unfortunate that Trevor Rogers never repeated his 2021 season. While he wasn't as bad as he was in the 2020 season.... That season, he had a 6.11 ERA/4.33 FIP, with 12.5 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9 in 7 games and 28.0 innings pitched. Rogers spent most of 2022-2023 on the injured list. That led to only 27 games and 125.0 innings pitched, which is less than one season's total.

In 2022, Rogers had a 5.47 ERA/4.35 FIP, with 8.9 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9. A very disappointing follow-up to his 2021 season. In 2023, Rogers delivered a 4.53 ERA/4.42 FIP, with 7.3 K/9 and 3.9 BB/9. The strikeout rate has went downhill and the walks are a danger. He's a bottom of the rotation starter at this point and is under control through the 2026 season. Baltimore heavily overpaid for a quality of a starting pitcher that they didn't really need. They need another frontline starter and couldn't get one.

The Miami Marlins received the #93 MLB prospect 2B Connor Norby. Norby should get regular playing time and is under control through the 2030 season. LF Kyle Stowers is another player going back to The Fish. Stowers is under control through the 2029 season, and is currently batting .306/.297/.500 in 19 games and 36 AB. This is an easy steal for The Fish.
