The MLB Hall of Fame will have some new members in January. The Miami Marlins are busy making trades, while other trades are receiving some negative reactions. Let's get back to the Hall of Fame however, the potential entrant in question is former Philadelphia Phillies SS Jimmy Rollins. Will he make it to the Hall? Should he get into the Hall?
Former Miami Marlins rival SS Jimmy Rollins could make it into the Hall of Fame.
The Philadelphia Phillies recently eliminated the Miami Marlins from the playoffs, and now they can put one of their team legends into the Hall of Fame. Should Jimmy Rollins get in? He has a career 47.6 WAR so he's actually a little low for the Hall of Fame. That's what makes me think that he probably won't get in at the end of the day.
From 2000-2003, Rollins batted .262/.317/.395 for a total of 7.4 WAR. 2004-2008 was Rollins's peak in the Major Leagues. During that time span, he batted .286/.342/.468 during that time, and was worth 25.7 WAR. He averaged 4.7 WAR from 2004 to 2006. His best two seasons came in 2007 and 2008.
In 2007, Jimmy Rollins batted .296/.344/.531, with 30 home runs and 94 RBI, in 162 games and 716 AB. He was worth his highest 6.1 WAR. He also won the NL MVP award that season. In 2008, he batted .277/.349/.437, with 11 home runs and 59 RBI in 137 games and 556 AB. He was worth 5.5 WAR for that performance. Just as importantly, he won the World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies that season.
Rollins's career went downhill a bit from 2009 to 2013. During that time span, he batted .253/.317/.397 during that time span. In 2014, he had a bit of a career revival, as he batted .243/.323/.394, with 17 home runs and 55 RBI in 138 games and 538 AB. He was worth 4.1 WAR. He finished his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2015 and the Chicago White Sox in 2016. I don't expect Jimmy Rollins to get into the Hall of Fame.
