There's been a lot of trade speculation regarding Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara. A lot of rumors about where he might be traded. There's even a possibility that he might not be traded after all. It might sound surprising to say, but he hasn't been pitching too well so far, and he means a lot to the fanbase. More importantly, The Fish are not actually playing badly so far this season. What should Peter Bendix do?
What will the Miami Marlins do with Sandy Alcantara?
There was an interesting poll about what the Miami Marlins should do about Sandy Alcantara. Should The Fish trade him as soon as possible? Should Bendix wait until closer to the Trade Deadline and trade him at that time? Should he not trade him at all and try to compete for the playoffs? Should he wait until the off-season to trade him then?
We can debate what the right move is, but we all have our opinions. I would personally prefer to keep him, unless there's some amazing offer for him which would be impossible to turn down. A real "can't reject" type of deal that could shake up the team's future. Anything short of that is simply not worth trading him for. It would upset the fanbase too much and the return might not be good enough considering his ability. I certainly wouldn't want to sell low on him.
So what did the voters think? Almost 50% of voters think that he should be traded as soon as possible. This is ridiculous as he's not pitching that well right now, and the return will likely be too low. This is a terrible time to trade him. Almost 40% think that it's best to wait until the Trade Deadline. This seems more logical to me, but still not what I personally would have done.
Almost 8% think that The Fish should try to compete instead and so keep him on the roster. Around 5% think that it's best to wait until the off-season. I would've voted to keep him and try to compete.
