It's frustrating not to have the Miami Marlins in the playoffs, but what a series so far! The Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets are putting on a classic, as The Fish look for a new manager. The Mets are also watching their key free agent basically play for his new contract. I'm of course talking about their upcoming free agent first baseman Pete Alonso.

The playoffs are fun this season but missing the Miami Marlins.

Bryce Harper helped lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a division crown. As the team ended the division winning streak of the Atlanta Braves. A streak that went as far back as the 2018 season. The Miami Marlins of course have never won the division, but won as many World Series as Atlanta in the last 30 years and more than Philly!

This is actually the first time in history that the Phillies and the Mets are playing each other in a playoff series. That has never happened before. This adds to the excitement, as both teams also happen to be heated rivals. A win in this series will go a long way in helping one team and their fanbase to one-up the other.

Game 1 on October 5, saw the Mets comfortably beat Philly 6-2 in Citizens Bank Park! This was surprising as Philly were the favorites going into the series. I actually expected them to win the National League pennant. A prediction that looks a lot worse after tonight. The Mets almost took a 2-0 series lead the next day, but ultimately lost 7-6, in a game that was tied at 6 in the ninth inning.

Tonight it was a different story. With the series shifting to New York City for the third game, the Mets made it count. They easily won 7-2 and now have a commanding 2-1 series lead, with the potential to close out the series tomorrow. It would be shocking and would make people question if giving division winners rest is actually hurting them. The Mets came in to this series hot and this is the result of that.
