Marlins division rivals have been eliminated
The battle between National League MVP contenders Shohei Ohtani and Francisco Lindor has finally come to an end on Sunday night. As a former Miami Marlins slugger won an award on a different team, The Fish's division rivals from the same city are now eliminated. The World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets is now set to begin on Friday night in Los Angeles.
Miami Marlins division rivals have been eliminated.
The Miami Marlins made an amazing playoff run in 2023. This season the team's division rivals the New York Mets did it. They of course went further, making it all the way to the National League Championship Series. It was an amazing run, that included the team making the playoffs on the last day of the season. They had to play a doubleheader against the division rivals the Atlanta Braves to get in.
The Mets had to then beat the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card playoff riund. They did so in three games, winning that series 2-1. In the National League Division Series, the Mets had to face the Philadelphia Phillies. Philly has been to the NLCS the last two seasons, and even won the pennant in the 2022 season. They also won the division.
In an upset, the Mets easily handled Philly in four games, winning that series 3-1. Unfortunately for the Mets, they ran into the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. That series went six games, but Shohei Ohtani and his teammates were just too much for them. Game six came to an end on Sunday night, with LA picking up the 10-5 win to win the National League pennant.
The road is not yet over for LA, who now have to get through the New York Yankees in a historic World Series. That series will include multiple Miami Marlins players on the New York side. Will LA be able to beat two New York teams back to back? Or will the Bronx Bombers win their first title since the 2009 season. Time will give us the answer to that question.
