I've written quite a bit about the Hall of Fame election this year. We saw some somewhat surprising inductions and some that were fully expected. There were former Miami Marlins players on the list: Mark Buehrle, Ichiro Suzuki, Hanley Ramirez of course stand out. Players from divisional rivals such as Chase Utley, Billy Wagner, David Wright, Francisco Rodriguez, Jimmy Rollins, Andruw Jones, Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann and Bobby Abreu.
Hall of Fame results include Miami Marlins players.
Hanley Ramirez had a couple of MVP-level seasons with the Miami Marlins. He did however have a steep decline, which is why he will no longer be eligible for induction next year. He received just 0.9% of the vote. Francisco Rodriguez did better, receiving 8.4% of the vote. That said, just like Hanley it's unlikely to see him actually get inducted one day. Brian McCann did better, receiving 9.5% of the vote, but he's still along way off from being inducted.
David Wright received 14.5% of the vote in his second year on the ballot. Sadly for him, I don't really see him getting inducted down the line. Mark Buehrle received 14.8% of the vote in his fifth season, he's not going to get in down the line. Bobby Abreu received 41.9% of the vote in his sixth year. He's another player who is very unlikely to get into the Hall of Fame.
Chase Utley received 59.9% in his second year, and there is a path for him to get inducted into the Hall of Fame. His teammate with the Philadelphia Phillies: Jimmy Rollins received 13.2% of the vote. He did it in his fourth year on the ballot. I also don't see him getting in. Andruw Jones received 68.1% of the vote in his eighth season. He probably won't get in. Carlos Beltran received 70.7% of the vote in his third year on the ballot. He still has a chance.
Billy Wagner received 71.8% of the vote in his final year on the ballot, while Ichiro Suzuki received 97.1% of the vote in his first. Both are now in the Hall of Fame. It will be interesting to see how next year's Hall of Fame vote goes.
