I've talked quite a bit about the upcoming MLB Hall of Fame vote. Some former Miami Marlins players are in fact up for induction! Those players are of course former OF Ichiro Suzuki and SS Hanley Ramirez. Among players from other teams, are former New York Yankees ace CC Sabathia, Atlanta Braves CC Andruw Jones, New York Mets CF Carlos Beltran, closer Billy Wagner, Philadelphia Phillies 2B Chase Utley and more! Time for some updates on the matter...
Miami Marlins Hall of Fame news.
Ichiro Suzuki barely played for the Miami Marlins. The bulk and prime of his Major League career took place with the Seattle Mariners. That's the cap that he will wear to Cooperstown later this month. It's obviously not a surprise that this legend is currently looking at a unanimous induction into the Hall of Fame. That induction is well-deserved even if he's going to be wearing a Seattle cap for that.
On the opposite side is Hanley Ramirez. Hanley had a much better career with The Fish than Ichiro, but a far worse career in the Majors overall. It's no wonder then that voters aren't jumping to vote for him. Sadly for the once elite SS, he actually currently doesn't have any votes at all, and will probably be off of the ballot completely after this year.
CC Sabathia is almost surely headed into the Hall, having 91.3% of the vote already in the bag. He would be a well-deserving inductee in my view. Billy Wagner is at 84.9% and is projected to make it in as well. He deserves it, being one of the best closers of all time. Carlos Beltran is at 77%, but is projected to finish with 72% when it's all said and done. He won't reach the 83% plateau and thus won't be in the Hall of Fame.
It doesn't look likely that Andruw Jones will get elected either. Chase Utley is at 58.2%, he finished with 28.8% last season so this is actually very good for him. He might not get in this year, but next year or the next two years could be the time when he finally does.
