It's great to see Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara back this season. Sadly, this may be his final season on the team. We can still enjoy him pitch for now, so let's just focus on that. Sandy has some great news for now however. As we're watching The Fish play better than expected so far, it's time to celebrate Sandy's big personal milestone.
Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins has a personal milestone.
It's still hard to imagine Sandy Alcantara pitching in another uniform, sadly at some point this season, Peter Bendix will probably trade him to a different team. Sadly, there will likely be a time when he's pitching for a team other than the Miami Marlins.
In the meantime, Sandy sat out a recent game against the Atlanta Braves, becasue he had to fly back to Miami for the birth of his second child. This is a milestone and great news for him. I of course congratulate him on that and am glad that he gets to have that experience happen again.
Sandy Alcantara is a good person who has proven to be loyal to the organization. I again want to stress that it's preferable if Bendix just extends him and keeps him on the team. It just hurts to see him on a different team. I understand that trading him can restock the farm system, but still the amount of merchandise sales that I'm sure he does, and his popularity with the fanbase has to be taken into account as well.
The fanbase will surely not be pleased upon seeing Sandy pitching for a different team. It will feel insulting and upsetting for a lot of us, and just feels unfair to not reward his loyalty by keeping him on the team. He's a father again now, and it would be great to have him raise his family in Miami, where he lives and I would assume would prefer to live in.
Sandy Alcantara is still the ace of the Miami Marlins and will hopefully continue celebrating his fatherhood while a member of the team.
